Nudge's Tale is an award-winning children's picturebook and film that features on the Premier's recommended reading list. Weaving creativity and facts, Nudge's Tale is used in Queensland schools and early childhood education settings, and is distributed across Brisbane City Council libraries, State Library Queensland and National Library Australia. Nudge's Tale is based on a local story of a baby dolphin whose mother died in a boat strike, suffered starvation and became entangled in pollution only to be rescued just in time. Nudge's story conveys a poignant message for our duty of care to the environment. Bridgette researched, wrote, photographed and designed the book and digital film. Nudge's Tale film was the overall winner of the 2008 Liquid Lens Digital Media Award in the tertiary category, with the story, imagery, script and production by Bridgette, editing by Phoebe Hart, sound design by Craig McCullough and narration by Jemma Robertson.
Nudge's Tale inspired a commission from Brisbane City Council to create Future Tales, a sequel film and installation created and produced by Bridgette, which unpacked the facts behind Nudge's story, and was exhibited across Brisbane City Council libraries. Bridgette also held author workshops at Brisbane Square Library in Brisbane city. Nudge's Tale is held in Brisbane City Council, State Library Queensland, National Library Australia and school and kindergarten collections.
Double Trouble and Chatterbox are environmental picturebooks that were commissioned by Sea World in response to the success of Nudge's Tale. Written and researched by Bridgette and illustrated by Tamsin Ainslie, the books engage children in the moving stories of polar bears, Nelson and Hudson, and Nudge the dolphin, at Sea World. Narratives convey the environmental legacies of their stories in an evocative way for children. Double Trouble and Chatterbox are held in Gold Coast City Council, National Library Australia and school and kindergarten collections.
